We welcome David Fleenor to the pulpit on Sunday, January 30 (Fourth Sunday After Epiphany). David is a former disc jockey, Pentecostal preacher, patient advocate, and hospital chaplain. He completed his Master of Divinity degree in 1999 and is currently working on his Masters degree in Sacred Theology at the General Theological Seminary. He is in the process of becoming an Episcopal priest and expects to be ordained next year. Before moving to NYC last July, David and his wife Heather (and their Yorkshire Terrier named Maddy) lived in Birmingham, Alabama.
We also welcome his colleague Donavan Cain, who will be playing special music on Sunday. Donavan is a traditional musician from the Appalachian hills of Eastern Kentucky. He plays the banjo, fiddle, and guitar in the old time styles of southern Appalachia and sings a variety of sacred and secular songs and ballads from the region. Donavan has played and taught at festivals and workshops around the Eastern US, and recently appeared in an episode of the PBS children’s series "Postcards from Buster" filmed near Whitesburg, KY. Currently, Donavan resides in Lower Manhattan where he is studying to be an Episcopal Priest at the General Theological Seminary.
You are warmly invited to join us!
