From September 14-16, world leaders will gather at the United Nations Headquarters for the World Summit, and religious leaders and people of faith concerned about global poverty will unite and make their voices heard in New York at a public vigil for 3 days of prayer, fasting, and witness. During the 3 days, people of faith will ask U.S. leaders to increase aid to fight global poverty by 1 percent of the U.S. federal budgetor $25 billion over five yearsto fulfill the promises of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), which aim to significantly reduce global poverty by 2015.
