From September 16-18, several women from Bethesda Covenant Church travelled to Pilgrim Pines (New Hampshire) for a refreshing retreat of fun, food, and faith. This year's speaker was Sue Buchanan, a breast cancer survivor, author, former vice-president of an event production company, and person of faith. Sue managed to combine the unlikely themes of cancer, humor, and faith--one of her most popular books is entitled I'm Alive and the Doctor's Dead.
The retreat workshops ranged from craft-making to listening for God to domestic violence; several offerings were taken, some of which benefited the Children's Home of Cromwell and AVA (Advocacy for Victims of Abuse). Pastor Amy presided over the communion service on Sunday's worship. When asked what their favorite parts of the retreat were, one woman said "the whole thing," while another noted her walks around the lake. All agreed that the fellowship and time to relax were perhaps some of the most important reasons for going.
