On Sunday, June 24 Bethesda Covenant Church welcomes José Humphreys as our guest preacher.
José is a life-long New Yorker, church planter, and community developer with over 13 years of ministry experience in New York City. In this capacity he presently works with Esperanza USA as a regional field coordinator, organizing faith leaders, providing training, technical assistance, and financial resources to churches and faith organizations..
As a communicator, José has received the call to preach, teach and train. José is also an adjunct professor at Nyack College where he teaches social policy and interpersonal communication. He graduated with a Master of Social Work from the Hunter College School of Social Work where he received the Reva Fine Holtzman award for outstanding field research and practice. José is presently studying at Nyack College-Seminary where he is pursuing his Master of Divinity in Urban Church Ministry.
More recently, José and his wife Mayra, have received the call to plant a church in New York City with the Evangelical Covenant Church. Their focus area will be the ever-changing Harlem area where they plan to officially launch in late Fall of ’07.
