Every year at Christmas time, Bethesda Covenant Church receives an offering to purchase a Christmas gift for the senior girls unit at the Children's Home of Cromwell This year, our offering will go towards purchasing decorative pillows for each of the girl's beds.
Why pillows? How do pillows transform lives and communities?
Well, they don't.
At least not by themselves; instead it's what these pillows represent. They represent to the girls that they are not alone; that there are people (whom they may have never met) who care for their well-being and want to support them. By this small act we are, as individuals, giving and sharing generously because of God's gifts to us; we are also, as a church, living at our vision "to live in love... and work with each other and the Holy Spirit to transform lives and communities."
The Children's Home of Cromwell is one such community. It is dedicated to serving the individual needs of children experiencing problems and learning difficulties, and helping them to function successfully in family and society through proven and innovative education, treatment, and residential care in a supportive and nurturing Christian environment.
We will be learning about the work and ministry of the Children's Home of Cromwell in the next 2 weeks, and receiving our offering on Sunday, December 16.
